21 Jun Spotlight: Phil Waters, Pithara Speedway
SPOTLIGHT ON: Phil Waters Pithara Speedway Club Inc
Driver, long-term Speedway President and one of the hardest working volunteers in speedway, Phil Waters represents what makes up the lifeblood of speedway. Returning to Pithara in the eighties, Phil was key in the re-opening of the Pithara Speedway track. With foresight and vision, Phil could see the track needed to be future proof. He oversaw the building of the big catch fence ensuring it should be built to the right specifications. Phil comments, ‘Everyone thought were trying to keep giraffes in because of the size of the fence.’ Since then, Phil has overseen many upgrades ensuring the high standard of safety WASC endorses as well as the further development of Pithara Speedway’s facilities. Phil’s passion and drive come from his love of the sport, the hospitality and the community of speedway. Phil Waters, the WA Speedway Commission salutes you for your continuing hard work and positive representation of the sport of speedway in Western Australia.
