STATE SPORTING ASSOCIATION STATUS FOR WA SPEEDWAY COMMISSION

STATE SPORTING ASSOCIATION STATUS FOR WA SPEEDWAY COMMISSION

Dear Club President and Secretaries,

STATE SPORTING ASSOCIATION STATUS FOR WASC

On behalf of the Chairman and the Commissioners of the Western Australian Speedway Commission, I am pleased to announce that the WASC has been granted State Sporting Association status by the Minister for Sport & Recreation, Hon. Mick Murray.

This elevation to State Sporting Association means that the WASC is the only organisation to represent the sport of speedway in WA that is recognised by the WA State Government and WA Local Governments. Our primary role is to deliver the WA State Government supported Safety Governance Framework, and represent the best interests of the sport: our clubs and members, our racing divisions and members, volunteers, officials, participants and spectators to create a vibrant, inclusive and connected WA speedway community.

We are currently working with the DLGSC on a categorisation process that will determine the level of funding the sport will receive going forward. To this end, you will be contacted by a representative of the WASC to help complete a census of membership and participation, which is one of the criteria upon which the sport will be categorised. I ask that you please work co-operatively with us, in the best interest of the sport of speedway, so that we may present a complete and accurate picture to the Department.

Regards

Lawson Dixon

WA Speedway Commission General Manager
