About WA Speedway Commission

The WA Speedway Commission is a not-for-profit sporting association recognised as the State Sporting Association for Speedway in Western Australia. The Commission is a democratically formed body, made up of a Board, Advisory Committees, management and office administration support.

 

  • The Commission reports to the WA State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries
  • The Commission is responsible for delivering safety oversight and training processes for the sport of Speedway in WA

 

The Commission provides services to a broad range of speedway stakeholders, including:

  • Clubs / promoters
  • Associations and racing divisions
  • Local government and/or land owners
  • Government insurers (local and state level)
  • Industry insurers

To become the Peak Body for Safety Education in Speedway across Western Australia

 

Mission

Delivering Safety Education and Training in Speedway across Western Australia. Our business is to implement the Four Pillars of Safety developed in the Speedway Safety Governance Framework.

What we do

The role of the WA Speedway Commission is to:

  • Promote and assist in delivery of safe speedway across WA
  • Provide independent and impartial advice, and work with speedways to continually improve safety
  • Provide advice and information to Clubs and Associations, but also to local government land owners and other stakeholders about risk and possible areas of liability
  • Develop and promote systems, specifications and guidelines for consistency in speedway safety procedures across WA
  • Deliver speedway training and accreditation programs across WA for stewards, officials and scrutineers.
