Around the Regions: Corrigin Speedway to open in 2022

The Corrigin Speedway at Walden Park, Corrigin is on track to open for racing in 2022.  The Chairman of the Australian Speedway Drivers and Riders Association Robert Archibald provided an update on their progress of the West Coast Speedcars track. He reported the concrete panels for the wall have been delivered and the fence is ready for erecting. Mr Archibald has stated that thanks to backing and representation from WASC, and Commission Chairman Des Alfirevich, meeting with the Shire Corrigin CEO Natalie Manton, they were able to garner Shire assistance by obtaining support and material donations from the Shire. The Shire has generously assisted the club by building a car park for the Speedway and donated earthworks equipment and clay for the track surface. “If the Shire was not onside, it would be impossible to get [the speedway track] going”, said Mr Archibald.

West Coast Speedcars and held a community event on the weekend 13 June 2021, in Corrigin to help raise funds for the Corrigin Speedway at Walden Park.
